From Work Experience to Trainee Engineer: Huzaifa Joins the HBP Team

Date

We’re delighted to announce that Huzaifa, who joined HBP in June 2026 for a four-week work experience placement, has now been offered a permanent position with us as a Trainee Engineer.

Huzaifa joined us as a final-year BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering student at the University of Lancashire, going on to graduate in July 2026. During his placement, he was based at our Leeds Holbeck Depot rail site, working alongside and learning from our existing engineers on-site.

His hard work, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn throughout the placement made a strong impression on the team, and we’re thrilled to welcome him on board full-time as he begins his career with HBP.

Commenting on Huzaifa’s appointment, Mark Faragher, Project Manager at HBP, said:

“Huzaifa has been a great addition to the team. It’s been really good to watch him learn and grow over the past few weeks, and he’s settled in and become part of the team quickly. He’s already proving to be a valuable asset on site, and we’re looking forward to seeing him continue to develop as he starts his career with us.”

Congratulations, Huzaifa, and welcome to the team!

“My experience at HBP so far has been very positive. Since joining as a Graduate, I have received excellent support, training and guidance, along with regular feedback that has helped me develop and improve in my role. Everyone has been very welcoming, from the management and to those working on site, which has made it easy to settle in and feel part of the team. I have gained valuable practical experience in site engineering, surveying and construction, including many aspects that are difficult to fully understand through university alone. Being involved on site and seeing projects develop from the ground up has given me a much better understanding of how the industry works in practice. I particularly value the opportunities HBP provides to get involved, take on responsibility and continue developing professionally”.
