HBP Publishes Carbon Reduction Plan

Date

We’re pleased to announce that HBP has published its Carbon Reduction Plan, setting out a clear pathway towards our commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Our target has been set in alignment with the Science Based Targets initiative’s (SBTi) corporate Net Zero standard, ensuring our approach is credible, measurable, and consistent with the pace of change required to limit global warming.

As the first step in this journey, we established our carbon emissions baseline in October 2025, working with Litmus Sustainability. This baseline gives us an accurate starting point from which to measure our progress, track emissions across our operations, and set meaningful, achievable reduction targets year on year.

Commenting on the plan, Tom Butler, Operations Manager, said:

“Setting our baseline was an important milestone for us. It’s one thing to commit to Net Zero, but you need accurate data behind that commitment to make it real. Now that we understand where our emissions are coming from across our fleet, sites and operations, we can start making practical, targeted changes rather than guesswork. It’s something we take seriously, not just as a business responsibility but because it genuinely matters to us and the communities we work in. We’re looking forward to building on this baseline and showing measurable progress year on year.”

Our Carbon Reduction Plan reflects our commitment to environmental responsibility as a civil engineering and construction contractor, and forms part of our broader approach to sustainability — alongside initiatives such as our washed and recycled aggregates operation at Greenscoe Quarry.
