Harrogate & Ripon Civils Works

Between October 2025 and March 2026, we were appointed by DSD to deliver the civils element of seven schemes across Harrogate and Ripon. The schemes were delivered across four areas simultaneously, with works taking place near schools, businesses and industrial estates.

Scope of Works
We self delivered the civils works using our own workforce and resources, including:

  • Kerb replacement and reinstatement
  • Ironwork replacement and resetting of service boxes
  • Pin kerbs and tactile paving
  • Footpath and cycle lane construction
  • Fencing and gate posts
  • Excavation and associated civils works

Key Project Challenges
Some schemes had a five hour working window per shift, requiring careful planning to minimise disruption to road users and local communities.

We worked a combination of day and night shifts, adapting our programme around schools, businesses and traffic requirements while maintaining access wherever possible.

Sustainable Delivery
More than 500 tonnes of recycled aggregate were used across the project. Suitable excavated materials were also recovered, recycled and reprocessed, reducing waste and the requirement for virgin aggregates.

Our use of recycled materials supported the principles of the WRAP Quality Protocol and our wider commitment to a circular approach to construction.

Key Outcomes

  • 7 schemes successfully delivered
  • 4 areas worked concurrently
  • 500+ tonnes of recycled aggregate used
  • 0 accidents
  • Local labour and supply chains utilised
  • Civils works self-delivered by HBP
  • Works completed within challenging five-hour working windows
  • Disruption to road users, schools and local businesses minimised

This project demonstrated our ability to deliver multiple civils schemes safely and efficiently in live environments, while combining local delivery with sustainable use of recycled materials.
